Hey guys quick question here what do you think about the strider pt? What would be a good price for a used one?? And is it as good as the sng???

Good as an SNG? Well, its a lot smaller - the size of a Delica if not smaller. Its downright dainty, IMO. I had one and sold it, but most folks like 'em. Just be aware that its pretty small. For more heavy duty cutting and general abuse, the SNG is better IMO. Its a nice medium size knife that fills up your hand.

So the PT is fine, as long as you recognize thats its a small knife.

I'm trying to get across the point that its a small knife, if you can't tell. :)

Here's the one I sold. Can't really give you a fair mkt value these days.

And here's an SNG (middle) for giggles; note the Delica above it, which is about the size of the PT, if not a tad bigger:

I like mine. It is a very small knife. It is the perfect size for EDC for me. Here is mine:

I handled one and was very surprised at how small it was. Felt solid enough, but it felt tiny.

I prefer the SMF. :D

Had one ...sold it. Off centered blade and iffy lock up did not justify $300 price.

You can get a small Sebenza for same price. Have to say that PT has better ergo's and character than a Sebenza will ever have.

My small EDC now is a LeafStorm at half the price. I know, it's not black and tacticool.

The Strider PT's not a bad knife, but it is small. It's smaller than an older Delica, too. I've had 3 different ones, but always seem to go back to my small Seb. However, the PT can usually be picked up for less $. They retail for $300 & you should be able to find one in the $225-250 range (Maybe a little less, maybe a little more).

They're 3 5/8" closed with about 2.25" edge & 2.75" blade, which includes the choil.

I've found that the F&F & blade centering was usually better on the PTs than on the SnGs, for whatever reason.

A Spyderco Caly 3 (VG-10 model for under $100 or the CF ZDP model for about $150) are good alternatives. If you want something of high quality that's close, I'd say the Buck/Mayo Waimea or the CRK Minandi (Both are about 3.5-3 5/8" closed). However, if you can find a Minandi, they're typically right around their list price which starts at $350. The Waimea, at around $150, is a very good knife.

Hope this helps.

The PT is one of, if not my favorite EDC, but...it does ride pretty high in the pocket with the standard clip, and also the blade grind is pretty thick, so not the best slicer. But for it's size it is a robust, overbuilt mini magnum. I've had 4 over the years, but at present don't own one. Of the ones I've owned it was pretty much 50/50 on having centered blades, but they all still functioned perfectly, and had great lockup. I bought one new at full retail, $300, and picked up the other 3 between $225-$250 used. If there is another in my future, it will be a PTCC, IMHO it would be the perfect coin pocket knife. Currently in the PT's place I have a Caly3 which is a great alternative for less money. Thinner grind, better slicer, along with a low ride clip, and great ergo's. If it is a higher quality Ti framelock, in the same size range your after, CL01 has those pretty well covered...and don't forget about a small Sebenza or Bradley Alias. Alot of great choices, but if it is a PT your after...get it, you won't be satisified until you at last try one on for size.

I have both the regular PT & the PTCC.
The one thing that bothered me was how high the regular PT rode in my pocket while clipped. I have sheaths from lifter for both of these knifes and I find myself carrying the PTCC more often.

It is a nice heavy duty unassuming knife that most non knife people won't be alarmed by.

In my opinion you should get it and try it.

I found the reg PT far better than the small sebbie away in erogonomics , and the PT CC , totally blows the small seb out of the water.

I had a PT-CC. It was a great little knife, excellent F&F, solid lockup, centered blade, and very sharp. But it was little. That was my big problem with it.

If a 2 1/4" cutting edge on an almost 3" total blade length does it for you, you'll probably be happy with it. I use a blade length of at least 3" with almost that much cutting edge for a lot of my normal cuts through thick insulation and packing, so the PT was too small for me.
