I had a Buck Mini Strider and, for me, the scales were too thick so I sold it. I see Strider now makes the PT with G-10 only on one side. Is it significantly thinner/slimmer than the Buck Mini? I was thinking of trading one of my small Sebenzas for one but can't find a Strider to fondle locally.

I don't remember how much thicker the Buck/Strider is, but I've had both and the PT was quite a bit thinner. The PT is close to the same thickness as a Sm. Seb.

Buck Strider: 15.30 mm, 0.6"
Strider PT : 10.15 mm, 0.4"

Two very different knives, not only about thickness.

If you have more than one small Seb, go for the PT. I liked both of mine, one drop pt and one recurve, but they were too small for me. You can find them used for a good price on here from time to time.

Thanks Guys, I appreciate the info. I have a bloodwood inlay small classic, a small regular and a Mnandi. The small regular sits in the safe so was thinking about trading it off or making it my "hard use" folder. Still on the fence.

And Strider has always made the PT that way; with the G-10 on one side.

My motto is, if you don't use it, get rid of it. My first Seb, a small micarta classic, has been traded for a UNERTL SMF. But, I am getting a large wood insert Seb.

The Buck Strider I have - a Tarani SBT - is significantly thicker than the SnG. You can tell the difference just putting them in your jeans pocket.

Buck did not make them the same way at all - the SnG is G10 on one side too. They are also lighter than the Bucks.

The higher end Buck Striders are good knives, but the difference in them and the real thing is huge, to me. The Bucks just look the same, and that's about it.
