Hats off to Strider for a very fast turn around time, they only had it for 2 weeks in house. I totally wrecked the knife doing something that no folder should do ever.

Blade is centered Perfectly

Just like new again

My SnG also had a 2 week turnaround and it's now perfect. I still have problem with communication though, they have yet to ever answer the phone or return any messages.

I know it's considered by most to be unacceptable, but they do admit that they almost never get back to people by phone/email. According to Mick over on their forum, they tend to only call back really urgent messages and discard the rest because the instructions for their warranty/repair policy is on their site and they don't really have the time to respond to all of the messages. I don't blame anyone for not liking that, but I figure at the very least they do the most important part- fixing broken knives and sending them back.

Hey Ankerson,

Do you know what the difference is between the RW-1 and the 3/4 grind tanto SnG other than the size difference and groove on the spine?

the RW-1 is based on the SMF platform, that groove is a blood groove. :D

Thanks for the response gundude, but those are the two things that I was able to tell. I was wondering if there are any other differences. I know the standard SnG/SMF tantos are high flat grinds.

It does suck that the SnG is made incapable of stabbing since there's no blood groove for spec-ops super-hydrodynamics:p

Yeah I read that on USN a while ago. It still sorta sucks, but overall I'm happy with the knife. Solid and tight lock up, perfectly centered blade, that's all I really need I guess (though the edge was a little dull near the tip).

That sounds like an impressive feat. Care to share some details of what you did to wreck it?

What did you do to it??? :D

When I made a video with it I cross battoned the blade through a log and had the knife on too much of an angle when I was hitting it. I was really smacking the knife hard, I mean really hard. The end result was it was still in one piece, but rattled like an old Army issue .45 ACP with a lot of blade play. The lock never failed even with spine whacks though. They put on a new Ti Side and new stop pins.

Like I said in the video, better suited for a fixed blade. ;)

I was wondering if that's what did it. That video made me cringe when you first put it up.:p:thumbup:

Strider loved the video though when they saw it.

Gotta love it when a knife company responds to a video like that.

I think you missed my question above. Other than the groove on the spine and the size difference (SMF vs SnG), is there any difference between the RW-1 and the 3/4 grind SnG tanto?

Oh yeah....

The blade profile is different on the RW-1 and the standard Tanto blade.

The "dull" near the tip thing is from the factory too. The guy who does final assembly on the productions likes to sharpen them like that. The edge becomes obtuse but it is at least evenly ground. AFAIK the customs dont come like that. This is kind of limited to drop point though.

If you want to get warranty work done, just include a letter with your contact info and ship the knife in. Now a days we're spoiled by email and stuff, you know not that long ago a telephone would have been the only way to contact them, and I bet people would complain less. Im not going to sit here and say that I prefer it the way it is, on the contrary I would love it if I could get an email or return call, but it's not the end of the world.

If you want the RW-1 blade in an SnG, then look at the FNG Tanto CC SnG. That is what I carry.

That RW-1 is a bad boy BTW.

One thing that Impresses me about you Ankerson, you always test your knives to the fullest, and your not afraid to do it.:thumbup:
