Strider SA

And I guess... That it's a little late to be asking this, cause I ordered my SA a couple hours ago...

Yes. I own an AD (Flat-ground) and it is a wonderfully handy knife. It is unobtrusive, sharp as hell, and fits the bill of either a wicked little fighter or a utility knife. Aside from my AR, it is the blade that goes everywhere with me - underwater and far afield. The AD, from what I understand is simply a less bellied version of the SA. It isn't in production any more. Nice call... You'll like your new tool.

I simply can't let any mention of the AD go unanswered. The AD is Strider's greatest knife. It was my first and only Strider, until I broke down and got an AR, which I wound up giving away to a serviceman. That AD saved my life and no one could get it away from me for any price (but don't let that stop you from trying). I've not used the SA, but, if you are buying something that is "like" the AD, you are buying something that is "like" Strider's greatest knife (in my less-than-humble opinion). Congratulations.

I have both the SA & AD from Mick last year. I couldn't agree more with Kshurika as the AD has been my favorite "little" Strider ever since. My other Striders are GS, PH and JW.
:D

SA is one of the finest knives I own, period. Bare Bones knife/ weapon/ tool that will take about anything you could throw at it, great ergo, though I recommend the choil be given a little emery cloth (you will see what I mean)

As a concealed piece it hide completely unobtrusively and discreetly, yet comes into use very smoothly and quickly.

Honestly, it (and the DB/ AD cousins) are not much bigger lengthwise from the mini BS folders, but the blades are massive in comparison; wider, stouter, more thicknes and a great flat grind which is what the BS Tanto needs badly.

One word about just holding it: confidence. One other word: Try to stop playing with it/ using it/ put it away ;)

Hope you figure out you made the righ decision.

I love my SA. Great little knife!

Kshurika, I've heard you mention little tidbits about your life threatening situation...I would love to hear the whole story! Chalk one up for the good guys!

Thanks. I'm looking forward to getting it. It should be in on Thursday. :)

Umm. Every once in awhile I bring up that "AD saved my life" thing and people ask for the details and I never quite get around to writing it. One reason is that, among other things, I'm a writer and I'm usually too busy writing to write...... Hmmm, that didn't come off as being too intelligent. Another reason is that the incident was far from heroic. After getting ambushed in Varanasi by some unpleasant fellows, I hacked, sliced and diced with absolutely no finesse. I also bashed the sh*t out of one guy with my classic Nikon FE (the Strider AD of tough cameras). Then I ran like hell, covered from head-to-toe with other peoples' blood. I've had lots of -(ahem)-"tests" since then, if you know what I mean. I saved my T-shirt as a reminder of a fun afternoon. Someday I'll get around to writing it up. Varanasi's the wildest city on earth, but some of the people are really impolite!
