Hello everyone, Maybe you can help me out. I saw a couple of pictures of the Strider Seal 2001. It looks like it can do what it is asked to do. The thing is, it looks very much like a model BT. Is there something I am missing or is the only differance the the Seal logo and possibly another half inch. Thank You for your time.

I'm very impressed with the S-2001. I can't help you out with the comparison though. The serrations come standard on the S-2001 and I believe you have to spec order it with the BT.

My S-2001 is hollow ground and the new flat grind you will get is said to be a significant improvement. So I now need to fill in the hollow grind with some liquid metal then use the file that I sharpen my lawnmower with to get the new flat grind sharp enough to cut cardboard.

Hi Hondo, Thank You for the input on the Seal 2001. I guess we will see what happens on the comparison with the BT. Thanks again EMR.

uhm, i might be wrong, but wont liquid metal just mess up the knife more than it would make it a flat grind:confused:

and im pretty sure you can get a little better of an edge if you use something a little finer than a file to sharpen a knife

I think what we've been treated to by Hondo could best be described as extreme sarcasm. I thought it was funny....oh well.

I swear I attacked that box in self defense.....that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Skellhunter,
I have both a SEAL 2001 and a BT(no serr.) but there is a big difference between the two. If you do a search you can get the exact particulars, but in a nutshell, the point leading edge on the SEAL is much more angled forward, like its built to pierce steel. The top part of the blade from the serr. forward are almost straight to the point. and of course it is MUCH bigger overall than a reg. BT. I may not have explained it real well, but if you do that search you should see some pics, and you will understand. If you can stand the wait, go w/ the SEAL 2001, like a BT on the "Juice"

Thanks again, Chris your information was just what I needed to here. I guess I have patience and I will wait for the larger Seal knife. Thank You. EMR

The SEAL 2001 is 10 % larger than the BT just like the MT-L is to the MT.
The BT and SEAL 2000 is the same size.

Skellhunter,

keep in mind that the S-2001 is a big knife and is probably taller and heavier than tattoo!

When I got this Strider the impact of the weight, profile and smell of the steel was awesome! The forward mass of the blade looks ready to penetrate anything. The main edge pops hair at the lightest touch! There is nothing delicate about this knife and it looks to be a great comfort item for the field.smell

Hey tattoo show me your war face!
