Strider, Sharpened tip?

After talking to C.J. at the NRA show, I got a strider forder in BG42. This is a tough knife! Maybe you could make a military version with a depleted uranium blade to pry tank hatches open

My question involves the edge between the tanto point and the main cutting edge. It has been ground, but not sharpened. Why?
