Just received an SJ75, but not sure how to differentiate between the regular and early production "S" models, other than the store's description. This one came from Amazon and was labeled an SJ75, but the description used SJ75s, making me think they copied and pasted. Anyone have pictures or advice? Are there markings to look for or go by?

Thanks

Pics please. There is a difference between the SJ75 and the SJ75s. And the fact you purchased it from Amazon has me thinking you probably got ripped off as to my knowledge there are no Strider dealers on Amazon. Plus the SJ75 is only available from Mick himself...

The sj75 aka "baby huey" is also called the sj75s. The sj75 aka skyjuice is completely different and was only available in limited quantities through the MSC website. You most likely purchased a baby huey.

Will post pics soon, it was on amazon sold and shipped by dealer Rock Mountain Tactical. Brown G10, flamed Ti and stonewashed CPM154 blade. If its a fake its a damn good one!

I've had several of each. AFAIK, the "s" model blade was supposedly hand-ground prior to the actual "production" of the knife. Once "machine-grinding" was on board, the s-model was no longer made nor necessary. I've seen it "in writing" that the grind is a bit different in terms of grind height on the blade. Putting two SJ's side-by-side (one of each type), I was unable to tell the difference, even with a 10-power glass.

Sonny, that's all I've heard as well. Didn't know if they marked the s models with a stamp or something to indicate preproduction.

The easiest way to tell if its a hand ground pre production are the grind lines. Ive owned a few and the hollow grind lines were prominent in the pre, as opposed to a regular production in which the blade was entirely stone washed

I could be wrong but I was under the impression that the early models were S30V ... assuming that to be correct, it is unlikely that this is an early model being CPM154 .....

Yup, that's a new one. Earlier models only had S30 and they were not labeled with S30 on the blade. The SJ-75 is Striders best slicer. I had one of the original ones and loved it except the titanium wasn't grippy enough. When it got wet, like with blood field dressing, it was so slippery you couldn't hold on to the knife.
