Strider smf blade play issues

I just recently got my first strider from knifeart.com. When I took it out of the box I checked for lockup, blade centering, sharpness, ect and when I checked for blade play I experienced horozontal blade play, but no vertical blade play. I don't have the tool to adjust it yet so I don't know if I can just tighten this out. The blade seems a little bit loose so I was just wondering if I can do somthing about this or I should send it in to strider for them to fix it.

UPDATE: As of now I have no more issues.

i'd send it into strider, have the tool here and never had to use it

Try tightening the screw closest to the pivot - sometimes that works. Don't over tighten - just put enough force to see if it was loose.

Other than that - it's probably just that it needs to be broken in. Open it and close it and allow for the titanium to mate with the tang of the knife, especially if it is the lego model (thick one). Once the surfaces mate the wiggle goes away.

I have one that was a little wiggly upon receipt - a small adjustment of the pivot and allowing it to break in took all play away - it locks like a vault.

sounds like it'd likely go away after tightening. you can make a pivot tool out of a flat head or I heard bike shops sell a tool that fits...

Well, at least you know you got a real one :)

Honestly, I'd order the spanner tool. The pivot on my SNG was rough. After quite a bit of break-in, I took it apart, cleaned it and lubed with Lucas Assembly Lube and it was like butter (I used a graphite pencil in the lock-bar to smooth that up as well).
