Strider SMF break in?

So i got my new Strider SMF w/tanto point in yesterday and can't help figiting and flicking it, checking it out and etc. When I first got it, it was stiff and slow. Now that I've played with it for 24 hours it's significantly more loose and opens easily by swinging.
My question is,...is this normal for break in and is it possible for that hinge to wear out from playing around with it too much. If they do wear out, what can you do to replace it? And should I grease it with some flourinated grease type stuff?

Yes, that sounds normal in terms of break-in, and no, you're not going to break it by flicking/playing/etc. with it: it would take a lot more than that to break the pivot on an SMF.

Yes a lot of folders get smoother over time. As for wearing it out I don't think you will in your life time, and if you do it will probably be the lockbar which is covered under warranty.

For lubrication I use a simple CLP or even synthetic motor oil. I havent used it but I would imagine grease to be too thick.

Sell that pos and get a Spartan, 3 times as strong...

You'll note I edited out the emotican we have repeatedly been asked not to use...

I have 3 Cold Steel knives right now with the Tri-Ad lock, and though they are nice, strong knives for a reasonable price, they are no SmF (or SnG, or Umnumzaan, or Gravitator...)

You can almost always feel the difference in a knife which is due to quality of workmanship and/or materials. I know I sure can.
Remember the Bladeforums motto: Buy em Both!!! (or buy em all if you have the cash:D).

Sell that pos and get a Spartan, 3 times as strong...:jerk it:

Maybe it is, maybe it isn't. At the strength of a Ti frame lock like the SMF's, 3x stronger isn't really a feature, it's a novelty.

And the Spartan is certainly not 3x the knife the SMF is. The blade looks like a copy of an Emerson Commander (shocking from CS, I know...) and the handle looks incredibly specialized for hammer grip. Good luck getting any real use of of that knife. The SMF's handle, on the other hand, can be held a myriad of ways, and no matter what people say, is very ergonomic when you actually look at the ways it sets in the hand. There's actually a really good post on the Strider forum about it if you look around ;)
