Well I scored big time on the sales forum. I purchased a lightly used Strider SMF CC with Ranger green and flamed handle. The knife is light but built like a tank. Its almost strange how solid the SMF CC feels but without the weight you would expect. I really cant imagine anything that I could possibly do to beak this knife. Overbuilt is a accurate description. It has the strength of a knife like a ZT0301 with half the weight.
As you can see the the blade centering is perfect. I went over this knife several times and its fit and finish is perfect.
The knife had a decent factory edge but I put a 20 degree polished razor edge on it. The first time I ever tried to slice a water bottle and the Strider cut 2 bottles cleanly in half. Blade thickness of the SMF is .187!
The polish is a mirror so in the pics it is reflecting my house in the background.
Obviously the SMF CC has no blade play and the
lock up sounds like a dried chicken bone snapping. One advantage of buying used is the knife is already broken in and very smooth.
I thought my ZT blades were thick...This blade is a hatchet at .187.
The weight is similar to, if not lighter than my Emerson CQC-11 that I carry every day. The Strider is balanced to perfection. The SMF CC is a perfect EDC for me. To sum it up, I do see a difference between a $200.00 knife and a $500.00 knife. Is the Strider worth the extra $$?? It is to me..
