Anyone know how I can get my hands on a replacement pivot screw for an SMF? Mine is all jacked up (long story)

Thanks!

Strider, like most knife companies, does not send out parts. You will have to send it to them for a replacement.

They also discourage you from taking the knife apart - so to avoid warranty issues I recommend sending it to them for repairs.

As you may already know, Strider uses loctite on the pivot, and they want to set it at the factory so it achieves the best lockup and blade centering.

strider uses loctite? thats big time news to me, i have a tool to adjust my pivots on all of my striders if they ever get loose from normal use and with me i love to play with my knives and open them ALOT. I've never seen loctite on a pivot from the factory.....they actually removed loctite from the pivot that i added it to when i sent one in.

either way, Toyz is right.... send it in. if you jacked up the pivot they will charge a fee if its too bad.
good luck

Like the other guys said, send it in.

As for loctite on the pivot, like Popsickle, I haven't encountered that on any of mine either.

My two SnGs had loctite on the pivot. I had a DGG made in 2010 with it.

Both of my SmF's came with loctite. One was purchased late 2010, the other in 2011.

Strider says they do this to stop people from taking the knives apart. They had to reduce the increasing number of service requests where people were sending their disassembled knives to be reassembled. Their maintenance schedule is to spray the knife down with WD-40 and use rags and qtips to clean the excess. They say there is no need to take their folders apart.

So - if you buy a new one and have the urge to be a rebel and take it apart - you are gonna have to use a soldering iron on the pivot for a few minutes to break the loctite bond.
