Strider smf question

Hey everyone, I just got my first strider. Absolutely in love with it, it's the most solid knife I own. It's smooth and rock solid right out the package.

One thing kinda brought a question to mind though, no big deal just curious to see if it's how all striders are.

The stop pin is differently finished on each side because it appears that it was all black then stuffed through the stop pin hole which resulted in the black finish coming off.

I don't mind it, just wondering if that's common








 
Not sure if it's common because I haven't had one with a black stop pin but it doesn't surprise me. Strider isn't exactly known for it's meticulous fit and finish. I'm not sure why they would of even attempt to push a black stop pin through a stonewashed blade because I don't really see how this is avoidable and I think it would be difficult or even impossible to re coat the pin afterwards to fix it. I wouldn't worry about it. Did you purchase it new?

Yeah it's brand new from knife art. Lycosa, I said I'm not worried about it. I just was curious. It also looks like somebody put pencil on the blade where the blade contacts the lock bar, which I would have done anyway.

Just was wondering is all, love the knife

Really digging the size of the smf. It's perfect for me. Really like this black g10and stonewashed hollow ground blade. Flamed titanium looks great too. I can't believe how light the knife is and how solid it is. Really smooth too. Very impressed
 
When I got a pt brand new from monkey edge it looked like it had graphite on the lockface. Maybe they do that now? I thought maybe it was a return or something

Yep that's what I thought too. I guess they do it now to keep it from sticking too bad during break in
 
I too have an smf nsn model but I sent it to strider about a month and a half ago cuz of lock rock and haven't heard from them since. I hope I get it back soon because I miss it
