Could someone explain wether these knives have titanium on both sides. I can't tell from the website exactly how it is contructed. It sounded like the one side is g10 only without a liner.

Thanks

The SMF and SNG are half G10 (one milled piece, no liner) and half Ti. Its okay, though. Its proven to be a very stable means of construction- which is why EKI and even some custom makers are using it- also the new Zero Tolerance line from Kershaw. Besides, Mick once went at the original SNG with a sledgehammer and it still worked. There was splintering (obviously), but nothing so that the knife was damaged beyond use.

the g-10 side does not have a liner, but its thick enough to not need one. it was to big to be my edc (and expensive)

From the Strider website FAQs:

Why G10 on the SnG/SMF instead of all Ti?
Per Mick Strider:

"The actual reason is that as much as you think it would ‘look’ cool. It’s a less quality knife. We use the G10 because it is rigid as hell. Ti is rather flexible by nature…it moves around quite a bit. The way we mill the G10 it is a solid piece of .390” thick material.

There are a lot of other reasons I could toss in there as well.

Its cold on your skin.
It is less ‘grip-able’."

I like titanium framelocks.

But I also like G-10.

So knives like the SMF are perfect. They have a titanium framelock, but still offer G-10 under the finger tips.

Titanium framelocks with a G-10 inlay are also great (such as the Firetac).

And what do you know... after falling in love with my Manix and Sebenza, the SMF and Firetac are next on my "to buy" list as they will hopefully combine my two loves.

I too like titaniumframelocks as well; in fact love would be more accurate. The SNG is an awesome knife, and feel very comfy in the hand, and is the perfect size for EDC. I haven't handled an SMF, but I would like one.

Hi TKC :)

I just got my first Strider last month. It's the SnG, and it is absolutely the toughest, strongest knife that I have ever seen.

Here are a couple of my photos showing both sides...
