Im looking to purchase an sng soon and I would like some help. Which one is thinner behind the edge? Will the 3/4 grind have a wide bevel at the tip when I resharpen the knife at fixed angle? I have heard this somewhere but I'm not sure if it's true, the flat blade portion of the 3/4 grind seems like it would be much easier to sharpen on an edge pro but harder to get an even bevel width. Lastly what would you guys recommend as far as dlc vs tiger stripe? Aesthetically I like both for different reasons, dlc seems more durable but tiger stripe looks like it would only look better with wear and marks. My concern is will the action will be much more gritty on a tiger striped blade?

I'll answer a couple:
3/4 is thinner behind edge-still has a strong tip, but nothing wrong with the flat grind
Tiger stripes(bead blasted Black oxide) are not my thing-bead blast portion is more prone to rust than some of the other finishes. My favorite is stonewashed(and Digi cam), but I do have Black oxide on my Z-wear and it has held up well.
I do like the SnG a lot and configurations are more a personal thing

Would bead blast being more prone to rust actually be an issue on a cpm20cv blade,(the steel type I would get)? How do you like that z wear, it sounds like a great steel for a hard use knife, have you tested the durability in any way?

Can't answer either ?
The general opinion is bead blast is more prone to rust-believe it is due to it creating a porous surface.
I like the Z-wear fine, but none of my knives are really hard use tested. They are overbuilt for my general needs
The one comment on Hinderer I will make is that for a comparably sizes knife(their 3.5 vs SnG) they are considerably heavier. This matters to me in an EDC, but may not to you. Otherwise a fantastic knife.

Mick Strider's past and reputation does leave a bad taste in my mouth, but to be honest does not make me want the knife any less. I like it purely for it's unique design, I saw one in a video before I even knew what Strider was and fell in love with the look of it. I haven't found any other knives similar enough to satisfy the craving for one.

No, CPM20CV is a stainless steel, so the finish won't be a issue. I've got a fixed blade in Z Wear, it has been an impressive knife. Holds an edge good, haven't had any issues with it chipping out. It's hit bone, gristle, deboned chicken, rabbit and it's surprisingly a very stain resistant tool steel. I'd buy a folder in Z Wear in a heartbeat. My view of hard use will probably be different than someone's else view, so it's not relative to comment on what hard use is. And yes, the 3/4 grind is thicker at the tip.
