Strider SNG Break-In Question

I'm sure this has been covered, but after reading the Strider 'must read' sticky, FAQ's, etc, (on another forum) thought I'd ask here.

I purchased an SNG-GG new from a dealer a couple of weeks ago. I have literally opened/closed it about a thousand times. Action out of the box was smooth and remains smooth, but still very tight. Also, the tightness is due to the pivot, not the lockbar force on the tang.

Adding lube (Break Free LP lube or Tetra Gun lube) to the pivot area makes the action jumpy or intermittently sticky if that makes sense. I can spray that stuff out with WD-40 and it gets back to normal - just tight.

Is there anything else I can do to make the action a bit less restrictive? Perhaps another lube to try? Or just keep opening/closing? Strider recommends not disassembling the knife and I plan to follow that advice.

Thanks.

All of the Striders I have had run better off very little oil. You can try to rotate the pivot some to see if that will help. There is usually a sweet spot where it will open better.

Yea, no need to break the loctite. You can just pinch the pivot with your fingers and rotate it. I used to take an allen key and stick it into the one side and spin it for a couple of min. That will simulate a couple thousand openings

^^^^^That method made a noticeable difference. Various positions of the pivot assembly had different levels of tightness. After spinning the pivot for a few minutes, I tried to find a 'sweet spot' and left it there.
