Hi, My knife arrived today and the first thing that caught my attention is the left thumb stud does not make rest against the left g10 part of the handle (Tiny Gap) but does so on titanium side. Although there are some features i do not understand, I believe this jeopardizes the integrity of the knife. I would Greatly appreciate any imput on this. Thank you -PG

When I sent my SMF back to have it "tweaked" they did what you describe intentionally. I know kinda funky....but Strider has one of the best customer service in the business. So use it and abuse it and if it doesn't pass mustard send it to the spa.

Hey King, that´s the way it´s supposed to be. The thumb stud is in fact a stop pin or bump stop and is supposed to stop the blade opening by connecting with the ti slab. There should be a paper thin space on the G10 side.
Congrats on a great knife! :)

It's normal, it's because the G-10 will dent in over time and will muck with the lockup. So they over notch the G-10, and let the stop bar sit on the Ti side only.

I know it sounds funny, but it's one of them things that Strider does.

Like the lock bar makes a very small contact to the bottom of the tang. Another thing they do is drill the detent all the way through, they also have about 50-75% tang covered when locked up after "break in."

Also being new, it might get a sticky lock. Throw it open ..really hard a few good times and it should set the lock and stop that sticky feeling. Or just wait it out, it will break in over time on it's own. It might take a solid month of EDC but it will smooth out and the lock will not be sticky.

Once you reprofile her she will cut with the best of them... Plus you can pry.. If you break her, it's fixed for the cost of shipping  ($15-25$)

Just use it for a month straight and see what you think about it after that month :)

So-Lo's right. I asked the same question to one of the Strider guys. That's an intentional part of the design.

Off topic: I like Striders and all but for the life of me I can't figure out why some people assume Sebenzas aren't "hard use" knives and Striders are. The way the frame lock is designed on the Sebenzas, you have the non-locking side of the frame supporting the knife in the opened position. On Strider frame locks, you only have one side and the pivot area. The plus on the Strider framelocks is that they out the stop pin on the blade to allow the knife to take greater lateral stress. But CR does that with the Umnum and it has two slabs of Ti to rest on.
