Yeah it`s part of the durability of the lock bar. With (hard) use the lockbar with travel further in and engage more. I can show you a pic of mine in a couple of minutes.

That's a proper liner lock. The lock face shouldn't make 100% contact, irregardless of the total amount of travel.

Shes GTG, I believe thats part of the design, and the whole lockbar cannot make contact with the blade tang, that is where your problems come in.

You want the lockbar and lock-tang contacting at a small point as far away from the pivot as possible for maximum leverage/strength.
Your lock is properly designed.

Bob Terzuola's book, "The Tactical Folding Knife: A Study of The Anatomy and Construction of a Liner-Locked Folder", is a great read if you want to know more.

You might also check out http://emersonknives.com/blog/emerson-knife-anatomy/, about half way down it explains exactly what you are questioning.

I'm gonna use it at work on my next 24 as a emt/firefighter was just making sure that the lock rock isn't a safety hazard it clicks pretty good

Any folding knife can be a potential hazard, the only way to certain is using a fixed blade. But for the most part, it should be fine.

Why is this always said my zt0301 has a rock solid lockup

Because the lock on a folding knife is a mechanical device. And there is always the possibility that a mechanical device can fail, no matter how small that chance is. And while your particular knife may be rock solid, failures can be caused by many things: carelessness or misuse by the user, manufacturing defects, etc.

Having lock rock does not mean the lock will fail.
To be sure, go wedge the blade and put considerable pressure on it and see if it fails.

Even though many of the old (radiused) lock-up Striders get lock-rock, many (including me) consider that lock-up to be stronger than the new lock-up.
Just go test it to be sure.

Heck, it's fine, you have plenty of lockbar onto the tang. Looks like you have about 60%. That's quite a bit. I have plenty of folders that are 10-15%, but will wear in and travel to the right with time and use. No problem at all.

Yup, I agree I own a few striders and an SNG and thats a fine lock-up... as long as your using your knife the "right" way.. you shouldn't be worried... Impossible for the blade to close on your hand unless POSSIBLY... by you put a TON of pressure on the spine.... but then again why would you be doing that 0.0?
