I'm looking at a Strider SNG DGG on the secondary market away from BF.
Non flamed Ti, black g-10.

It's not a blatant gouge-bay knockoff.

From what I can tell it is authentic.
However, I have been reading about some of the fakes and would like to know more.

What is the timeline for BOS heat treat?

What steels were involved with the BOS marking?
I have read that BOS did not do any of the SNG in S35V.

Can somebody please post pictures, send me pictures or point me to the right thread so I can compare both sides of a real Strider SNG DGG BOS?

Any and all information is greatly appreciated!

Thanks
Cicatriz

There is a recent thread about a guy who bought a fake SnG, should be easy to find. There are no S35VN Bos heat treated knives and it's been a while since his mark has been on Striders. I suggest hopping over to the Usual Suspects Network and asking in the "Strider Hardcore" forum. They will gladly answer any question you have.

Well that was short lived.

I do not have an ISP provided email so I cannot join Usual Suspects Network to ask questions...

My ISP uses Gmail anyway.

Yeah, so many spammers that many sites don't accept @yahoo, @gmail, @hotmail, etc.. I have owned an acoustic guitar website for 10 years and every day I get 5-6 Chinese, Russian spammers trying to join. They are selling fake everything!

Striders have to be one of the most copied knives out there so be very careful. From what you have already said I would shy away. Do you care to elaborate on price? That knife lists for $475 and is pretty hard to come by. Even a well used one will easily sell for $350+. Do you have pics? A lot of the fakes have shiny screws and pivot. The hardware should look sort of matte, almost worn look. Here's a couple pics of my DGG.

Thanks for posting pics!

I am supposed to be getting pictures soon and will be able to tell more.
I will definitely handle it before any transaction is agreed to.
It's not marked S35VN.

Egg-shelling it the whole way for sure.

What makes you shy away already?

I would be very wary. It is good that you are able to handle it firsthand, should be a help to you. BTW, I have been a huge Mars Volta fan for years. Glad there is another TMV fan/knife lover out there!

I thought you might be saying the knife was marked S35V.

Was looking at a post @ it appears that there are NO Gunner grip Striders with the Bos heat treat stamp.

That's good information. Disheartening, but the truth sometimes is.
Never the less the truth is still the truth, and that's what I want.
Thank you, sir.

If/when I get pics I'll try and post them.

I received a couple pics.
Pretty sure it's a fake. Please tell me I'm wrong....

Few things I notice;

Shiny stop, shiny pivot bolt.
STRIDER stamp is done badly.
Flying sword stamp is done badly.
USA stamp is wrong.
BOS stamp is crooked.
BOS stamp with Gunner Grips.

Wow, if that's a fake... sure would have fooled me. Damn those guys!
Like you were saying, the stamps do look a bit odd and I have seen that the fakes have the Bos heat treat stamp no matter what the config.

The logo looks like it was stamped in. Can't see much else on my phone. DGG with bos stamp is a giveaway though.

To me it looks like the STRIDER was marked first, then while the steel was still hot they stamped the logo on.

Yeah, looking at my logo and the logo on that knife there is a world of difference. I also looked at quite a few pics and the ones marked USA say just that USA not U.S.A.

Yep, I did the same thing too.

I informed the seller it was a fake. They thanked me for the information.
