Is there any small/edc-able knife out there with a strong lock (frame or strong liner), a decently thick blade (about 3-4mm) and a finger choil?
I really love the strider designs, but in my opinion, I wouldn't pay $400ish for a knife that doesn't meet the price point (in my opinion, please don't flame me xD ).

As for price, as long as it is worth it, i'm fine =)

EDIT: I'm not looking for buck striders. Even though they do have an amazing design, I am not fond of the weak liner lock. They are also discontinued, so....not for me :D

Have you seen and handled the Spyderco sage1 and 2? They're not generally considered the toughest of the tough like a Strider for some reason, but They are very solid, well made and won't break the bank. They have great choils similar to the Striders, strong locks and the same blade steel.

A Spyderco original Mini Manix is very comparable to an SNG. Not a liner or framelock but an incredibly robust lockback, that in all honesty can probably come close to matching the SNG, if not surpassing it. It's a little wider than an SNG, but handles and carries very similarly. If you can't find one of those, the upcoming Spyderco Superleaf looks to be sized very similarly, but works with a compression lock. The Cold Steel American Lawman also is a solid workhorse with a choil that might work. However, it uses the Triad lock. I would have recommended the upcoming ZT0550/551, but it looks like that the final production is going to lose the choil as opposed to the original prototype. Too bad in my opinion, but we'll see how it works out.

Hmm...Those do look nice =)

Since the sage 1 and sage 2 look very similar (and i'm probably assuming same specs, except for the framelock/linerlock difference), can you switch scales interchangeably? (eg put a CF scale on a sage 2 for a CF/Ti framelock combination). That would be wicked =P

Several people have done just that. if you search the board for frankensage you will see it.
