I read about the Strider and I own Sebenzas so I purchased a Strider SNG today, od green with tiger striped blade. Now that I think of it will the tiger stripe scratch off after use, or should I have gone with the satin blade?

yes. definitely. you are in for a lot of work to get that blade shiny if that is what you like

Sorry I am not clear on your answer, can you elaborate? I should go satin or striped?

Nice purchase, I wouldn't worry about the coating coming off easily. Welcome to the forums:).

I had a Strider AR , tiger striped that got used for everything from scoring drywall , to cutting shingles to cutting linoleum , the stripes got scuffed up but never did they scratch off.

Thanks, I just hope I didnt make a bad decision in the stripes. I like the way it looks with the stripes and the od green. Looks really tough. I paid overnight shipping so I will have it tomorrow. Let you know tomorrow.

Forgot to mention that AR was my every day user for 2 years , finish held up well , sold it when I got my new AR with the contoured scales , that has been a few years now and it is holding up well also.

The stripe finish will look even better after you have used it for awhile.

I carried one for about a half year straight. Yes they will show a little use, but I don't believe you could ever scratch the stripes off.

You will see, the bead blasted blade will take on its own look with use, cardboard and other stuff will semi buff the blade making less drag through a cut. At first that blasted blade will pull through things a little harder than a stonewashed blade or satin, but it will break in after a month or so.

Your going to have sore thumbs from flicking it open and closing it, Striders need a break in period. After you get through it, the blade will slide through anything, the action will smooth out.... And that sticky lock will not be sticky after a week or three.

Pencil lead on the tang will help a little, time will fix it for good. The SNG is about one of the best EDCs one can buy. Up there with a large reg sebbie, and a XM IMHO

Man after my on heart. When I get ready for the knife I order, I want it RIGHT NOW, not a few days from now. Overnight is still a long time to wait, but it's better than a week!! Both of my Strider AR's are tiger stripped and I have no problems with either.

I really thought I'd STRONGLY prefer stonewashed, but I REALLY like the stripes... I could go either way with no particular preference.

I had an SA a few years back, which I bought new, and for whatever reason then, I did not like the stripes... It took like an hour of work with steel wool to get them completely off, and then I used a scotchbrite pad to get the steel wool scratches down, then a regular sponge's abrasive side, then the finest cloth-like sandpaper I could find, then my dremel w/ red compound, and finally flitz to get it real purdy... over like a week, I'd say I spent 3-4 hours on the process. Now, I'd just use the least abrasive scotchbrite pad to take the bead blast down a notch... I don't need anti-glare, and I prefer a smoother finish which = less cutting resistance.

I have a SMF Tiger striped blade ranger green scale. I have used mine for about 2 months now. The black has held up very well. The Bead blasting has a little character. But if it is a user and you like the tiger who cares if it scratches.

i bought used SMF , and previous owner heaavily stropped its blade... for now its basic'ly satin... you wouldnt beleive, but stripe pattern still can be seen at some angle
