Strider Stop/Thumb stud bending Ti side?

I have a couple of brand new SMF's that have very different grooves for the stop studs on the Ti and g10 side. I only have the two because one is a replacement and the other is getting sent back to dealer today. Anyway is the one that is more mashed (first one I got) due to opening and closing?

In the picture the old one is on the right

Thanks for the input.

I highly doubt that the thumb studs/stop pins are molding the titanium. The real question here, is, does the knife open and lock up fine? Does it have blade play? If it locks up fine and doesn't have blade play, don't worry about it. If a cosmetic difference in knives is really bugging you, send it to Strider or send it back to the dealer.

The cosmetic difference doesn't bother me at all. I just assumed they would all look the same. As far as lockup the one that is more molded has ever so slight side to side play and it seems it's from the stop pin not sitting right up against the Ti.

Could flicking the knife open cause this?

I can't tell without seeing the knife, but it would help if you took pictures of it open and everyone could see what the pin looks like. If the knife has blade play or lockup issues, just send it back and let them deal with it.

The one in question is being replaced from the dealer so it is a non issue. Just a question I had. Ill add some photos of it open when I get home tonight.

Well, you did the right thing.

More than likely, the groove was cut too shallow or too deep.

As long as lock up is solid, in terms of lock bar engagement, the 'side to side' play would have nothing to do with what is more a cosmetic issue than anything else....

This was not done by flicking the knife open, just something at Strider, where they didn't mill the Ti as much.
I bet if I took a close look at my SMF's I would find they all vary slightly in that area.

If you have a spanner tool, a very slight turn on the pivot will resolve your side to side play.

Enjoy the SMF's....
