The other day i posted a thread (Tops vs Busse) and i had quite a few good answers. I am now convinced there are some advantages to owning a Busse over a Tops, but now that only begs the question; isn't Strider up there with Busse? i always here them being put together in the same sentence so from that i gather they are equal. am i wrong? please help as i am saving to buy one or the other but not both.

No.

We will get all the screaming fan boys and the guys that know 'operators' *yawn* that will defend them to the death when Busse puts its money where its mouth is, instead of saying stuff like 'Lick my sack' which seems to be the standard answer when a question is directed to the Strider guys.

Well as far as overall strength goes, think folder versus fixed. Without getting into a pissing match regarding one maker versus the other, I think you already know the answer to the folder/fixed issue.:)

lol ^^^ and busse combat owns strider!

I was referring to both brand's fixed blades. Sorry for not stating that in the beggining.:o

I own one of each, a Strider MFS and a Busse SFNO. The Strider is a great knife, but the Busse is, well, perfect. The grinds on the Strider are off, the Busse is perfect (as close as my eye can tell), the Busse holds an edge better and is easier to sharpen, and I believe it will be tougher in the long term. I don't plan to get rid of either one of them, but I will NEVER get rid of my SFNO.

I don't own a Strider (but maybe will someday), so don't consider me an expert handler.

I would pick a Busse specifically for the INFI over S30V.

Strider is renouned for tough blades for operators; however INFI has been proven to take abuse and keep ticking.

*editted to add*

Another plus for Busse are the Ergo handles; vs cord-wrapped handles. Again, each company has their own specific applications in mind; but for me the deal breaker is INFI.

I predict a lot of :jerkit: :jerkit: :jerkit: :jerkit: :jerkit: :jerkit: :jerkit: :jerkit: :jerkit: :jerkit:

More or less in a circle until the thread goes mercifully blind.

Busse is better for one simple reason: the steel.

INFI is tougher than ATS-34 and S30V for larger hard use knives. The stainless steels tend to be more brittle.

If you would like some entertaining reading, pull up some of the old "Busse vs Strider" threads.

I don't own any Striders, so I cannot comment on their functionality. Never cared for cord wrapped handles, myself.

Busse is my choice.

also, I would chose carbon steel over stainless every time for a hard use blade.

This thread is bound to get entertaining.

In a larger knife busse, or any carbon steel blade will beat out strider. In a small knife they are lot closer together. S30V has great edge retention and I have found it is decently stainles. Infi has very good edge retention and is very stain resistant. My S30V knives seem to keep their sharpness longer than my infi ones of similar size. I also hate cord wrapped knives so that might make me a little more biased. If I were looking at a kerambit or WP sized knife I might go with strider, but anything over 4" I'd go with a busse, anything under 4" I'd usually go with busse to. I hope that doesn't sound too conflicted? Like I said, I don't think you can go wrong with one of the G-10 WPs.

This Busse versus ... stuff is going to get old fast. Each thread will barely differ from the others. You can already find Busse vs. everything in the Busse forum, basically.

But I still want to see Mr.T. vs Busse. :D

Are you talking about Pre "A-Team" Mr. T or Post "A-Team" Mr. T. . . 'cause Pre-ATeam Mr. T was a bad dude. . . . Anyone remember when he won ABC's Battle Of the Bar Room Bouncers???? I think he ate three cameramen and then bit a bar stool in half to use as a toothpick!!!! . . . Now, that's a Bad dude!!!!:D

Instead of all of these "Busse Combat vs. Whoever" threads, how about a "Why won't any other manufacturer do "LIVE" testing like Busse Combat" thread? . . . If every manufacturer of knives meant for heavy combat and survival applications, would do "LIVE" testing at the BLADE Show, then all of these threads could be ended with a simple URL pointing to the results. . . Wouldn't that be cool?

That would leave more time for drinking and less time for thinking!!! (My personal life philosophy!) :D

Cheers,

Jerry :)

"Why won't any other manufacturer do "LIVE" testing like Busse Combat" thread?

Because you would be on three shifts, have to move to a new factory, be on the phone bitching to steel mills about the 400,000lbs of INFI that should have been here yesterday, meanwhile all your booze will evaporate. Better the way it is.
