Sorry if this has been debated before, and let's not get into a flame war. I was just wondering if the Strider folding knives are any more solid or stronger than a large Sebenza. If you think the Strider is stronger, state why. If you think teh Sebenza is stronger, state why as well. :)

Yes, it has, and no, you're not! :D

Of course we will! You just started one

Religious questions are rarely settled by discussion.

And do so at length, while impuning the integrity of anyone who disagrees !!! :p

I'M sorry. I couldn't resist ... since we just did exactly this and that thread is still bleeding.

The story I heard is that Mick and Chris had a secret meeting somewhere in the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas. The stories vary but anywhere from 3 to 5 "Stribenzas" were made. Two are in the hands of a wealthy Japanese collector. The others are unaccounted for. I keep checking e-bay but nothing yet.

OK folks. Pandora's Box has just been opened. I know which side I am on, but will attempt to remain mute on the subject at hand. I will say it is a matter of, different strokes for different folks. cough://Strider://Cough :footinmou

hmmm. this might be one for cliff stamp, that intelligent dude who basically rapes knives in his spare time.

I doubt Cliff will be playing this time. ;) I personally don't think there is any way that the relatively thin blade and modest sized pivot of the large Sebenza could come close to out-performing the the thick blade of a folding Strider, with the monster sized "bull pivot", when it comes to "hard use" tasks.
However, I can't see a Strider folder holding a candle to the slicing ability of the large Sebenza's fairly thin blade.

Both are great knives, but like Guy G said, "apples and oranges". :)

That's the answer I was looking for. Enough said, feel free to end this debate as it appears to me it's been done before. :)

yep, the debate has been done just in the first quarter of the year. and the verdict is:

gimme the hinderer firetac! :D

At the risk of sounding redundant, I'd trust the Strider to take more extreme abuse, but for what I use it for, the Sebenza does the job just fine.

I think both Striders and Sebenzas are junk. And niether of them compare to those cheap Chinese ripoff imports that you find in gas stations for 3-5 bucks. Don't waste your money!

I have both and am extremely happy with them--maybe for different reasons. As was stated above, this topic has already been beaten to death.

Yes, the decision is easy. Just like Knifenerd said, get both. That way you never have to struggle with which one is better. The only struggle is which one to take with you every morning.

I have one. I use it for only two things.

1. Shaving the cat.
2. Dismantling old concrete gun emplacements.

Never needed sharpening in two years!

I have one of the other Stribenza's. But it is cemented in the foundation of my house along with Jimmy Hoffa's body. Both will never be found.
