strider warranty and "tweaking"

Hi All,

I have a strider PT and the pivot screw is a bit loose. After a while the blade favors the G10 side a bit and there is some blade play. I would like to just throw some blue loctite on it but I was wondering if I'll have any warranty issues.

I've read various threads about people having issues with getting warranty repair when they've "tweaked" their knives, but I was wondering if anyone has had experience with strider's warranty and loctite. Alternatively, does anyone know if there is a way to clean out the loctite should I have to send it off?

Thank you!

I put locktight on the pivot screw of my PT CC before sending it in and they didn't have a problem with it. I also sanded off the sharp edges on the G10. Maybe I was just lucky though.

Don't do stupid things and you will be fine.
I really don't think you'll have problems with just locktite (use blue). If you strip the screw of something like this, then don't blame anybody but yourself.

Blue locktite is fine. Don't use red, Mick has complained about that in the past. But, it still wouldn't screw up the warranty. Adjusting your pivot screw is not really mod'ing the knife, it's just tuning it up.

Thanks for the feedback guys, much appreciated.

I think that's exactly the thread I saw and it was an issue with red loctite specifically and not loctite in general. Good to have someone confirm this.

Thanks again!

they typically have some loctite on the pivot anyway so it shouldn't be an issue. when Strider says "tweaked", they usually mean quite noticeably modified.
