Strider WP vs. Livesay Woo/Celt?

Merry Christmas, forumites!

I'm looking for a small fixed blade to carry at work and I've pared the list down to the following contenders:

- Livesay Woo, Celt, G-45, or Marshal
- Strider WP, MFS, or Buck Solution
- TOPS Sea Wolfe or Interceptor

Okay, so it's not really pared down that much. But what I'm really concerned about is their sizes relative to each other. Are Livesay's neck knives that much smaller than the Strider WP? I want something that will fill my hand like a medium/large folder (EDC, KFF size)but will still be concealed easily. If the Livesay knives are similar to the Arclite, they won't do.

On the other hand, the Strider/TOPS knives may be too bulky. I'd prefer a wharncliffe, but the size will be the deciding factor. Since these knives are never available in local knife/gun shops, I can't handle them myself. So it's up to you forumites! Go get help, Lassie!

Thanks in advance and Happy Holidays,
Butch

I would try the Livesay Celt. We are talking 22 bucks on sale (at least it was) and it has a cord wrapped handle. It is a chisel ground warncliffe blade style though. But since the blade has no curve to it, you just run down the stones until you have a good burr worked up, then lower the angle and strop it off the unground back edge. Its easy. The woo is tricky as its a tanto and thats like sharpening two knives. The point and then the rest. Just so you know that a chisel ground edge does not cut perfect straight lines through all materials. It does cut great very efficently though. You could buy 10 livsays before you could touch the cheapest strider. Try one and see if it works out for you. I think they are plenty big enough for general utility.

I carry a Livesay Woo-ex, for $40 you get a high quality piece of expert heat treated 1095 and an awesome micarta handle. For around $25 the same knife with a cord wrapped handle. Are they good?
I can tell you this, my life is worth a lot to me, as is the life of my partner. We both carry Livesay Woo neck knives. I have extensive experience with Livesay products and have absolute trust in them.
Strider Knives is reported to make excellent quality knives as well. They have many satisfied customers, many of whom also rely on Striders and entrust them with their lives.
I don't think you can go wrong with either product, but for the price Newt sells the Woo and Celt at, you really owe it to yourself to give them a try. If you decide you like the Strider better, the Livesay would make a great gift if you know someone that goes in harms way.

Price was my biggest question between the two; think I shoulda clarified that? Duh. Damnable eggnog.

I think that pretty much settles it. Hell, I may order the Woo, Celt, and the Marshal or G-45 to test them all out. For a nip over a hundred bucks, I don't think I can go wrong.

I actually do know quite a few people who go out of their way to put themselves in harm's way. Occupationally, that is. I think that's the reason why I'm such a staunch supporter of staying in an office or warehouse ;)

Thanks for taking the time to answer my question on Christmas Eve. Now quit lollygagging and get back to you families!

I have an MFS and a Seawolf. They are both absolutely outstanding knives. The MFS retails for $175.00, the TOPs Seawolf for about $140-150.00. The Livesay sells for under $50.00.

I have never even held a Livesay, but I have the MFS and the TOPs. Both are very Comfortable, extremely sharp and, the Seawolf with an aftermarket Sheath, very comfortable to carry. The Seawolf is a little nicer to the eye.

you cannot go wrong with either if you are willing to spend the money. As far as the Livesay, I am CERTAIN many here own/have owned one and give you an OPINION.

Good Luck on making a choice!!!.....wolf

Is the Sea Wolfe bulky, wolfmann? The size I'm looking for is roughly the same size of a 4-inch folder like a KFF or Wortac open so it's concealable.

I think I'm gonna get the Livesay knives for now because they're so much cheaper. I'll tell you though, the Sea Wolfe and Interceptor get me all excited and tingly inside. The new Buck/Strider Solution does similar things to me, but it's a bit larger than the others.

Newt makes one hell of a knife for the money. You can't go wrong with one of his neck knives.
