So on my quest to find "my" perfect EDC I finally got my hands on a Strider WP, it has not ended my quest but it is a very nice little knife. Mine has all the Strider acsents, cord wrapped grip, tiger stripe finish and even an exotic grind, Terzoula grind, which really deserves a pic but alass...

The blade is under four inches and probably 1/4 inches thick down the centerline, though it thins out dramatically both towards the edge and the spine. It isn't a double edged knife but the thin spine should make for excellent penetration. The tip is very funky, I can't really describe it but its sharp and it appears that it would be quite strong. The cord wrapping makes for a very comfortable grip but the handle is quite small and there isn't much of a guard or butt on this knife so I am not sure I would want to thrust it full into a hard object. The edge is cleanly ground but not breathtakinly sharp, its thick, not chisel but v ground and I haven't tried to improve the edge as I am not sure I am going to hang onto this one. The kydex sheath is very nice, good retention allows for a fast draw and came with a large teclok that allows for vertical and horizontal carry. For me probably the biggest problem with the knife are its cosmetics, I think it looks badass and very macho but I think people would run screaming if I pulled it out to open a box or cut a bit of packing material, also its my understanding that the striped finish doesn't hold up very well so I am not sure what the point of it is. The other thing I don't like about this knife is the lanyard is integral to the cordwrap of the handle. So if you want to get rid of the lanyard you have to permanently modify the knife. I don't like lanyards much at all and especially not on small concealed carry blades. I would really like to see some more discreet WP knives, I know a g10 handled version is out now and that sounds great but some other finishes or lack of finishes would be good too. This knife is supposed to be discreetly carried and its very military look works against that end.
The wrap is secure, the grinds are wild and appear practical, the steel is s30v and the sheath is totally ready to go, all in all this is a sweet package. Also the variety of blade shapes available on the WP models means that you can find one that fits your uses. Personally for me that would probably be a drop point but the Terzoula grind is unique and would certainly serve well both in a utility or SD role, with the edge to SD IMO.

If you can take the abrasion and use a really tight grip, the security is really high, it is one of the few grips I have seen that can even take hard stabs with lubricated grips (fats, oils, soaps), I did it with a WB/PAB.

Looks cool.

So I think what I really don't like about the grip is the fact that there is no area on the spine that will make a decent thumb rest, the spine is very thin and though not actually sharpened would do nasty things to the ball of the thumb if you rsted it there during hard use. If you use this knife in your left hand you can lay your thumb against the steep flat grind and avoid the spine but this doesn't work for right handed use due to the odd blade shape. Again I like this knife but its definetly more an SD blade then a utility piece.
