The PT and PT cc are the same price. The Sng is $75 cheaper than the SnG cc. Don't know about the SMF cuz I don't care. I get why the cc is more expensive, as there is more labour/resources involved, but why no price difference with the PT/PTcc?

From what I have found the PTcc costs more money. If you can find a PTcc for the same as a regular PT I would snatch it up.

Same price at true north knives and plaza cutlery for reg and cc versions--$300. It's only when you go digi camo blade or Starlingear, that the price jumps. Recurves, tiger stripes, concealed carry, flamed Ti... these are all options on the PT that do not raise the price.

It looks like the CC version does not come with a pocket clip. Possibly, the increased cost for the CC scales is offset by the savings of not having a clip.

You cannot match dealer prices with production costs.
Dealer prices have a demand factor to consider.

So you are saying that the dealer/retail price difference between the SnG and SnG cc may not have anything to do with production cost differences? I'll buy that (if that's in fact what you're saying), but my question still hangs: why no PT-PTcc retail price difference?

Maybe the PT cc don't sell as well.
It would be interesting to get a dealer to comment. :)

I know it's not fair to judge people based on their reputations, but I'm nevertheless affraid that posing such a question to "THE STRIDER GUYS" [spoken in a (mockingly) deep macho voice] would be answered with mt PT cc being shoved up my arse.

In that case you should look at the bright side. CC would not cause as much damage to your arse as a grippy regular would.:D:D:D

K...M...N...

Did you ever get your PT CC apart so you could lube it ?

Wally,

Your sense of humour is either splendid or nonexistent, based on your comment/question here.:) Either makes me laugh!

If you were serious, the answer is no. I decided to try trading/buying up into an SnG cc, so messing around with finicky (and relatively mysterious) pivot hardware probably isn't a good idea. In its present crispy state, I can list the PT as "LNIB" with absolutely no questions of conscience. So now it just sits and waits in its case for a new owner, or until I decide I can resist its charms no longer and yank it off the exchange and strap 'er onto my side. I'd still like to know the official word from the manufacturer on its breakdown, though.

I had to chuckle when I read the above. Being absolutely new to forum/knives I haven't the foggiest what your talking about. :) It's ok I don't need an explanation. I'll be around awhile and pick it up.

ill give you an explanation anyway:

pt=smallest strider folder
sng=med strider folder
smf=large (very) strider folder

all three have basically the same shape.

cc=concealed carry; the blades and scales are a bit thinner than regular models. and the scales are radiused toward the edges, giving the knife a rounded profile.

as far as meanings for the letter designations:

pt - ? "pretty tiny"
sng - some speculation, but may be a reference to randy shugart and gary gordon, two of the delta operators killed in mogadishu.
smf - strider military folder

:thumbup:

I have to ask ( in a deep macho voice,) what part of Esav's explanation doesn't communicate information? To put it nice.

Dealers have price guidelines - just try getting a real discount on Benchmades or BFGoodrich AT's - but they can absorb some profit loss by lowering the price on some items because of slow sales. There is also the possibility that they made a larger than normal order that allowed both parties to negotiate a lower cost. Heck, maybe Strider decided to sell them cheaper just to move some goods in the depressed market for cash flow.

I'm always amazed at econo/financial questions until I realize most high school grads don't get taught the Value of Money, or where hamburgers really come from.

Morimotom has pretty much gave up a secret that only Strider fans allowed to know. Seanski now you are a keeper of the secret and obligated to buy a Strider of your choice, preferably an SNG and trade it with KarlMaldensNose for his PT+cash. All this must be done in a timely manner or Mick will start looking for you.
