I have never handled a Strider in person, would like to put one on the Christmas list but having never seen one up close I need some help picking the right model.
The PT seems a little small, the SNG seems right as far as overall size, I prefer folders about the size of a Blur, Delica, or Griptilian and the SNG by specs online seems close to those.
I notice some models have full flat grinds while other more or less have a saber grind, I like the better cutting properties of a FFG, I realize being a Strider it isn't going to cut like a FFG Spyderco, but I hate slicing things with my saber grind Delica because it feels like a wedge instead of a blade.
So my question is, are there any models of SNG that have better blade profile for slicing than others? Do they even make different versions of the SNG or SNG sized model with different blade grinds, or are they all the same? How do they perform as far as every day cutting chores, cutting up an apple, or a carboard box, ect. nothing heavy duty?
I don't much care for ZT's because they dont cut well, the blades are thick and the knives too bulky for my taste. I realize Striders arent the best choices for cutting efficiancy, but I have always wanted to try one and absolutely love the designs. So, are they better slicers that a ZT0200 for example? I wish I could put my hands on one before buying, but can't find any locally. I used to own a couple Buck SBMF's and really liked them although they werent very good at slicing either, guess I am just really picky.
BTW, handled a Sebenza and wasn't overly impressed, don't get me wrong, it was perfect, but I didn't "have to have it", so don't bother suggesting that instead.
Would appreciate any suggestions here, also if anyone in the Columbus area has one, I would love to meet up and check it out in person one day, have a "knife show and tell day".
