striders

There were hints it had to do with the names of a couple of people in the Blackhawk Down incident.

I think I read it was Shughart n Gordon, the aforementioned snipers. Mickey Ray apparently worked with them while avoiding jail time for the carjacking charge.

I heard that also. Funny how that story on POWnetwork.org kinda says otherwise though. Its out there and you can find it if you know where to look. It is kind of funny the way people that know were told by someone supposedly sworn to the secret and yet thats ok that they know but then they won't pass it on to just anyone or when they do they do so at a whisper in private and say something like, 'don't say I told you but', or I'll deny it if you say you heard it from me.' Thats how it came across to me. All to apparently stay in the good graces of Mr. Strider and the apologists I guess. I really don't understand the big secret because its obviously not a secret at all based on the whispers in private conversations.

As for the SnG folder. Its a fine folder. Built pretty well but now that the Hinderer XM18s are showing up with some reliable regularity I'd suggest looking at one of the 3.5" models from Rick. Rick invented the Hindererer lock stabalizer used on the Striders and his knife has it also. The XM-18 is in my opinion a knife that blows the doors off the SnG in every way. A couple stand out ways are that the XM-18 has the option of clip flip to tip up or down carry, it comes in a flipper or non flipper model and has a much higher fit and finish and a liner under the G10 on the non lock side just to name a few things and its not really that much more for all those bonus features IMO if you shop wisely and find one you like. They show up here with some regularity now and even as users at times and they seem to me to be showing up at dealers more now too.

Pretty sure those are the guys it's named after, minus the bogus story.

Agree on the Hinderer but it's kind of a different beast.

I like the SnG double gunner grip.

Beast is a good choice of words on the XM-18. Too big and way heavy. Fit and finish are superb. I believe the spear point blade would be more functional. I thought I had to have one until I actually got one. Now its a safe queen. Live (go broke buying knives without actually handling one) and learn. I own 4 Striders. Good knives but not in the same ballpark as the XM.
