I've read that many like to use the reamer of their Victorinox Alox knives as firestriker. It should work well, but I thought I'd share my own "bush trick" I figured with the saw. The saw has very sharp spine and the long blade allows very easy fire striking.
Here's what you do:
1. Find and saw a wooden piece, approximately length of your Farmer with saw opened and thickness about the thickness of the knife when looking at the shield.
2. Whittle about 1/3 or 1/2 of the stick flat like in the picture above.
3. Use the reamer to make a hole to the other end of the piece like pictured. Drill so that the reamer goes all the way through the piece.
4. Put the reamer through the hole you just created and close it 90 degrees while the saw opened. You can make a notch to the opposite end of the piece where you can nest the saw blade. This allows your saw to rest in the notch and the knife won't rotate as easily.
5. Grab the stick and the knife (don't get stinged by the reamer) and you should have a stable device for fire striking that doesn't close on your hand!
