When I'm not fondling my Busse's.I've chores to do...my last trimmer lasted more than enough to pay for itself.
Now I'm in the market to purchase for a new one.The Tanaka 2501 is my pick.Anybody have any input on this model or on one they're presently swinging? Thanks
Mods: I'd posted this elsewhere, but did'nt have a clue, where & I respect the knowlege of the Hogs.
Jimmo

I bought a used Stihl at a pawn shop. After a little tune up it has run like a champ for 7 years. Had a buddy run the serial number, its almost 20 years old.
When this one dies it'll be another Stihl for me.

LOL .might be kinda fun...but the speed of string trimmers vs. the CGFBM cannot be compared !?!
Yes a weedeater.
Stihl- I've looked at those too,Great trimmers.I'm asking if anybody uses a tanaka or knowsanyone with one.

I personally prefer Echo. I've beat the crap outta mine and it still keeps working. I do regular maintenance though, and that makes most any machine last awhile longer.

The split boom models have caught my eye,so I can put on a brushblade or the edger/limbsaw is the reason I checked into the higher end trimmers,I also liked Honda, but they're a bit pricey.

I second Echo, I have a split boom Pro Attachment Series I've had for about 5years. I have a sweeper, power pruner, string trimmer and brush cutter attachments for it, awesome set up!

Echo is a good one.... I have a Husqvarna that has served me well for about 8 years. What I like about it is that no matter how long it has been since I have used it (some times six months) that bad boy just starts!!!

I have a straight shaft Echo and it is about 15yrs old and going strong, My chainsaw and hedge trimmer is a Stihl, they both have had no problems.

Just a note on Echo.

My brother's shop used to carry them but no longer. Most of their units now go through the big box hardware stores, who have started putting pressure on Echo to cut costs. In the last couple of years he has had several Echo trimmers (and blowers) that were either broken out of the box or were returned broken before their first season.

He now sells Stihl and Honda.
