Strip & etch question

Newbie question, sorry if it's been asked (I searched but didn't turn up anything). I'm familiar with stripping and etching the logo on ESEE knives, and I was wondering if the same process applied to Emersons. Is the logo actually etched onto the blade, or is it printed?

I used wet/dry sandpapaer and finished the blade with a green scrubbie. The, I sold it to Nath.
