I have some strong paint striper since I do auto paint work

But is there a special reason to use this Citrus Striper I see alot of people using to strip paint off knife blades?

Im wondering if there is citric acid in it that patinas the metal as you strip or something

.

Not sure about that, only it is easier and less caustic to use than some others. Really just a preference thing.

I get a nice patina using citrus strip. Plus it's just easier to use without all the fumes, and clean up/disposal is easier to deal with.

Not sure. Never touched the stuff.
I prefer using chemicals that are "known to cause cancer in the state of California." :D

Me Too ! I also like high voc stuff and paint that is "illegal" now

Most times the striper I use usually bubbles up/ lifts the paint in just a few seconds or minutes

Ha! For a second I thought this thread was about fish.

I like the citrus stuff. Granted, it works slowly - but I'll take the clean MSDS over advantages of aircraft stripper any day.

If it doesn't cause my latex gloves to melt, eventually burning my fingers, then I don't use it. It's kinda like a sport. Stripper olympics. Strip the blade before the gloves melt. Fun times.

The anticipation of splashed some on your arm skin or face and running to the garden hose keeps it exciting

Citrustrip is relatively safer than most other chemical strippers, safe enough to use indoors with adequate ventellation. It's all we use in the wooshop.
