nice and smooth underneath. should be cutting way better than with the abrasive coating. this is a user so i kept the coating on the rest of it. i may try and even out the edge of the coating sometime, as well as put more than 10 minutes of work into sanding the blade to make it look nicer. that 10 minutes got me nowhere except for a few spots. it looks a lot worse than in the pics (couldn't capture the darker spots), but it's a fine user. and it looks way better than the razor i stripped a few days ago.

i was surprised, the tan coating took forever to come off after applying the stripper. and when it did come off it was only in spots (not necessarily where the most stripper was applied either). took two coats.

saber grinds just look hot naked. i guess the shape and curves of the knife have something to do with it too.

this thing is sharp. couldn't tell very well with the coating, but the edge is ground pretty thin for a Busse. in fact, the edge is about the perfect thickness for an all around knife.

very nice. I need to get to stripping my SS, now that the finish is getting a bit more beat up. I need to beat on my Ash1 before I strip that one.

if you want an even smoother finish, just hand rub it with some 2000 grit automotive sandpaper, then polish it off with some mother's mag polish...

that would take a while with 2000. i used 400 for a few minutes with little result. i just don't want to spend hours polishing it

Was thinking of stripping my game warden, will stripper goof up the micarta handles? Is there any secrets to this? i'm new at this and don"t want to screw my knife up,thanks, G.M

Micarta and G-10 are both impervious to pretty much anything you can throw at them. That is one of the great things about those phenolic resins.

Strip away, brother.

i remember seeing a pic somewhere of G10 being lightened in color. i think it was from the stripper

That may be the case, though i've not seen it. Early in 2008 STR (has a forum in the maker section) actually tested some micarta and g-10 by soaking them in differet sorts of fluids for hours, and sometimes days. These fluids included paint thinner and gasoline. He even set them both on fire, and the fire burnt until the gasoline was used up then sputtered out. He said both phenolics were unharmed.

I guess you COULD see some discoloration, but I don't think it's likely.

Won't hurt it at all.

You can brush it on the finish or just dunk and go.

In about 10 minutes after a rinse:

Never hurt the scales at all.

After some work with 1000 grit and 2000 grit - with the SARsquatch

Does it affect the Busse logo on the blade? It looks like it's fine in your pics!?
