Removed the M4ll N1nj4 t4ct1c4l Bl4ck coating on my BK-9 with some paint stripper a while back. Like it better this way.

does it rust easily like that? Have you had any problems as a result ?

Thanks :). No, no rust issues so far, but then again I take good care of it and don't leave it soaking in salt water for extended periods of time either:).

Did you need to sand it down or anything? I'm considering stripping mine and buffing to mirror finish.

Didn't sand it. Under the coating was a greyish finish, perhaps a primer or something. I rubbed most of that off using one of those Gerber finishing stones, which I think is fine aluminum oxide in a rubber One of these days I'm going to get around to polishing mine up.

Great now i have another project, i can tell my crewman might be naked in very short order. thanks for the post and the idea. later, ahgar

I did that to my Crewman a few months back and am still happy with the results. The tang is showing some discoloration from my gooie hand sweat but no rust at all with heavy use. A spritz of WD-40 or a wipe off of a silicone cloth at the end of the day keeps it lookin good.

Take good care of that knife, you're going to need it - looks like you're shooting blanks!:D

haha :) I picked the cartridges up in Hong Kong many years ago, off a mountain that the special forces must have been training on. The smaller ones are a Radway Green L1A1 ('86) and L1A2('92) and the large one is the L13A1('84).

They would have been used in the british M16s and L1A1 (FN FAL) respectively.
Blanks >.>

P.S. I dont think theres any way I would be able to obtain grenades. Not here.

Looking good. I've stripped many a coated blade and like them a lot better. I usually leave the coating around the handle area to keep the sweat from staining it, but you've inspired me to clean up my BK9. Oh, and I want a Crewman now too, thanks a lot! :D
