Hey STR,
What's the price to strip an HD-7 blade-ball-park? Does it effect the blade like do you have to re-sharpen it? What does it do the resale value? No more questions! Thanks!

It will probably void the warranty. I don't really know. I've done them. Some of them it strips off the writing completely. On others you can still see it and read it but its faint.

It does dull the blade yes.

I think the resale is questionable. Some like it better and may want it some might think its not worth it. It really shouldn't matter if the rest of the knife is solid though. One thing about Emersons they do sell when you need to unload something. Perhaps the only ones better at moving are Spydercos which sell better if you ask me.

Stipping each one is different. Some are nearly done in one pass on each side. Others take three or four and then I like to touch up the edge and of course you have to take it apart to bead blast it so there is putting it back together. None of it takes long. But as to how long. I get a few bucks to touch up the edge. Reprofiles are $10.

This should be a touch up but sometimes if it was dulled down to begin with its more. A factory edge should come right back if I can try to not directly impact it straight on when blasting.

I'm sure any ole joe local can bead blast it but I doubt they'll take it apart, or sharpen it and they many not even want to do it for you.

I'll be happy to. I normally charge my min. shop fee on stuff like this but get in touch with me. We can work something out if you decide to move forward. I'd call EKI tomorrow and ask about the warranty though. If that is important to you it might not be worth it.
