Hey guys, im sorry for making new thread but i realy haven't found any info or pictures. Is there any1 out there that has stripped his ak-47? I know ameican lawman looks quite good stripped but I have never seen any pics of uncoated ak-47. Afaik cold steel folders have satin finish under the coating but I just can't imagine AK with that. Thanks :)

its more like a stonewash finish.

i imaging the ak is just like the lawman underneath, but i dont have one to strip.

How would one go about doing this? Can you just spray on paint remover? Would the G-10 handle it? Or would it be better to disassemble? Can the AK be disassembled easily?

the triad lock model should be the same as disassembling any other model, its pretty simple.

the older axis type model, i have no idea. i dont have any with that lock.

i used spray on stripper, and had to let it soak overnight. and g10 is immune to most chemicals.

I dismantled and stripped my Mini Lawman, it was a PITA getting the G10 apart, I marred it a little. NO worries though, it adds character right?

WHat did you do M to open your Lawman?

not exaclty sure what you mean.

but if you mean getting the scales apart its actually pretty simple, but easy to screw up. i learned this by gouging the backspacer.

once the scale screws and pivot screws are removed, you can separate the scales from the pins by lightly prying them apart with a flathead screwdriver. i start by twisting the driver near the pivot area, then work my way down the lockbar, very lightly.

try not to pry right at the edge of the scale, or you may gouge the parts visibly. insert the driver a little ways in, the just lightly twist. only use this technique around the pivot area or around the lockbar. there is no need to pry near the spacer since it is screws, not the pins, holding the scales in place near the spacer.

the pins are press fit, but the diameter between the scales is larger than the diameter of the portion that inserts in to the scales. do not try and tap them out from the outer portion of the scale. they wont move and you will end up frustrated with a damaged knife.

When I opened the liners near the pivot the opposite end would close. Kind of frustrating, but that was just a learning experience more than anything.
