So I got bored today and decided to follow the trend and strip my Bk-11... The Jasco 15 min stuff worked really well for this but after I got all of the stripper and coating off i found this...

Has anyone else found something like this? It looks like rust but there was no time for it to rust between washing off the stripper and when I took the picture, it was there as I washed it off...

Any thoughts on how I should clean this up or if its a problem?

Not sure what it is, but my BK2 has some of the same marks. It has been stripped for over a year and it hasn't changed, so I wouldn't worry about it.

The only thing was worried about is that it was a crack or defect that got moisture in it before the coating was applied and was trapped there by the coating? I might be way off, I dont know really... I think ill just continue to use it as normal and see if anything develops...

I have had that happen ,over a long time it will bubble up along the lines .I have no idea what it is but it seems like a type of patina maybe from a chemical in the coating.

I got my Becker bk 14 (used) and it had seen better days, edge was massacred by someone doing a hack job and coating was flaking off in parts, long story short, I kept it as is for a few weeks and then decided to strip the finish, since it was flaking off , just removed it with a razor blade, it had similar markings all over the knife, think spiderwebs, not sure if it was moisture or patina,it was even under large patches of intact coating.

I tried polishing it off and it's faded now, can still see it under close inspection, I'll see if I can get a good enough picture to demonstrate

I have actually seen some microbial corrosion (basically a bacterial attack) on stainless steel but not on a knife like that. Is there any depth to the trails?

So I couldn't really take a good picture to illustrate, but there was minimal depth to the trails and polished up quite easily with some 1200 grit sandpaper

Is it possible that there were some very faint scratches that reached metal and then moisture got in. Correct me if I'm wrong but if you used your blade for a while with the coating thats what I think might have happened

Well it looks as though there was no dept to the trails and, yes i had used the knife for a few months before I stripped it so that's probably how the moisture got there... Some 320 grit sand paper took the the trails right off... Now to finish cleaning up customizing and add a patina...
