I want to get a polishing wheel for the dremel and finish it off with that however i dont have one so it wont be happening soon (anybody want to donate one :D)

Looking good! I've always used klean-strip on mine, it's cool to see another method.

I stripped mine recently. Did 180,400, & 600 grit sandpaper. I've got some 1500 to finish it off. It's pretty time consuming, but I'm really liking the results so far. I'll update my original post when I'm done.
So if you want to spend some time on it, the sandpaper might be the way to go. Man...I really need some of the micarta handles. I just wish they were'nt so dang expensive!

You could always fab your own. Hell, you could go as far as making your own micarta from scratch.

Do it, you will take more pride in it that way. It's not that hard, and you can do any color you want in any pattern :)

I would really like to look into that...are there any "how to" posts hangin around? Or you could email me the info.

Here is one I stripped and did hand sanding to 1000 grit then mothers with a dremel

The simple version:

1 pick a color and a fabric
2 get some fiberglass resin, some sturdy boards, wax paper, clamps, and a paint brush
3 mix the resin and place wax paper on one of the boards
4 start layering the fabric, and painting on the resin(make sure you put it on thick and smooth it out)
5 once the layers are built up put wax paper on the top, place second board on top of that and clamp it down
6 wait for it to cure

:D at least that's how I did it, if anyone else has another way I would like to hear it :)

i usually use dollar bills for the stripping. gets all that stuff off fast :P
