Took a little time and stripped my BK9 today. Sprayed on some jell stripper and let it sit for 20mins. The interesting part is it came off easy on the grind of the blade but left a dull gray on the handle and top grind of the blade. I actually like the look and may leave the top gray to see how it looks with a patina on the rest of the blade. Now the question is where should I go from here? I'm open to suggestions since it is a clean slate right now. I was thinking of a mustard patina but now I'm undecided. Any suggestions?

The strip was easy but that stuff melted the "chemical gloves". I was also a little careless and picked up the cardboard. It ended up burning my thumb just a little. Part of the price to pay in order to have nice clean Becker!!

Of course here are a few pictures......

Here it is right after the spray of the stripper

Cleaned it up with a wire brush. You can still see some black coating that I'll take off the primary grind with steel wool.

I like it , It still bugs me as to what those smudge marks are on the blades, I got some too on my BK-2...

I plan on taking off the smudges with some steel wool. I have a vintage cleaver collection and have found that the steel wool will take off that junk pretty well without changing the finish of the metal too much.

looks great as-is! Im liking the two-tone look more every day. Odd how some Beckers strip like that and some dont. Only one of mine that stripped and left a 2-tone is my 16

That came out really good. I do love the that two tone look. You are making my 9 give me a funny look now :) its shaking in its sheath.

paint that sumbich with pink krylon, bake it in the oven at 300 for 30 minutes to set it, and then you'll REALLY put some fear into the wood.

When I stripped Helga, she had those same two-tone tan lines, and similar smudges on her face, but I had assumed that was from my not so gentle hands.....

Smudges are gone and the primary grind looks nice and clean. I'll use it for a while and see how the patina goes from here. This weekend it will be used to chop down a big-A shrub in the front yard that needs to come out for the spring. Added a lanyard to go around my wrist for chopping. Action pictures forthcoming.

Slide that blade into a sweet potato overnight..you will get a good patina from it instead of mustard IMHO.

Wow! I just raised my BK9 to the next level. My black skystorm leather sheath just arrived today. I'm stunned at the quality!! Pictures to follow.

Finally got around to taking a couple pictures of the amazing sheath by Skystorm. Simply a work of art in the form of leather! Fits my Saddleback Old Bull belt perfectly. I'm completely set with this knife now so it's going on our first camping trip next month.

I love my kydex but that leather looks sooo classy on those blades. They almost look harmless, Almost.
