So I stripped my NMFSH yesterday and the Red/ Black G10 now has a white tinge to it.

Does anyone have any idea what this is or how to remove it?

It doesn't wash off. If I get it wet in darkens back up.... but then as it dries it lightens up again. I used a citrus biodegradable stripper.
I'm tempted to put some Flitz on it so see if that'll fix it.

Thanks.

Had a similar thing happen when I stripped my CGFBM that had black G10. It seemed to bleach the handles quite a bit and you could actually see the layers in the G10, almost looked like a rope effect. After using the blade a lot the oils in my hands made it dark again and they were fine.
Same thing on the Meaner street with black micarta, the stripper turned the black micarta bleach white for a while until they darkend back up from use.
Just handle the knife all the time and it will come back.
good luck and congrats on the NMFSH, one of the best blades ever

Mineral Oil is your friend. Apply liberally to the scales, then wipe clean with a rag or paper towels and you'll be back in bidness. The stripper pulls all the oils, etc. from the fiberglass, and since plain fiberglass has a whitish look to it, that is what you are seeing.

ETA: In general, G10 is pretty impervious and doesn't generally hold oils, chemicals, etc. However, when you cut the glass mat to shape the scales, you open up the edges and expose the ends of the glass fibers, which will wick just a tiny bit. The untouched G10 will not absorb anything due to the epoxy filled nature of the composite.
