Stripped my SAR5

Stripped my SAR5 and gave her a good rub-over with a 400 grit scotch-brite sponge. It has almost a blued finish now, with a bit of luster that I can't quite catch with the camera.

This is my go-to knife now. This weekend I used it for everything from cutting up boxes to chopping up chicken wings.

nice job, i recently did my 1:300 whose finish was looking a little ragged after 10+ yrs. I think its hard to beat the bare look of infi. That gunmetal gray/blue is some sweet stuff. Thanks for the pics.

That looks real good, just enough finish to look nice but can be easily maintained and wont look ugly if used hard. good job.

I just did the spine on my BM-E ,,,,,,, was'nt all that bad but stripping the entire blade looks like work,,,,,,, seein those dimples would make me insane,,,,but I realize you did'nt want to thin the blade that much to grind them out,,,,, bottom line is,,,,,Great Job

That's pretty much what I was going for. To clean it up a bit and make it look decent, but not kill myself or alter the knife too much. Now it looks cool, but I won't hesitate to beat the tar out of her!

Looks good mate.

I'm almost tempted to strip my black SAR5. Sadly I would be forced to leave the secret woodland tactical ninja society i'm part of if I did strip it so for now it stays nice and tacticool.

Seriously though I just like the black is all but it's nice to see what can be done.

+1, I like it alot. Did you thin out the blade? It kinda looks that way.

Nope. I just stripped a regular old SAR5 and scrubbed it down with a 400 grit Scotch-Brite sponge for a bit. Really easy job.

I really like it, it's a nice contrast of tool and flare. In person all of the polished flats and edges gleam against the contrast of the raw INFI.

I can see where your finish would have come from with what you did.

This is mine just after it was stripped:

I used sandpaper for several grits but I didn't worry about grinding out INFI dimples

Didn't mean to hijack your thread Matteo.

Your SAR5 is nice.

Like some other things that come into my house I pluged its front hole.
