Does any one have pics of a stripped sage FFBM. Im thinking about stripping mine, but Im not sure how those handles will look on metal. Thanks

Are you crazy???? Sage is the RAGE man!!! :D :D

Me... I wouldn't strip it... go for one of the other FFBMs to go nekkid on... I have a feeling the sage coated blades will be more sought after down the line. ;)

But if you must... here's the desert camo G10 on the SMOG wardens...
both nekkid INFI... one double cut, the other satin.

I have to agree with Foo here. I think the desert camo g10 handles would look awesome with a big ol' satin Mistress blade, but I'm afraid that is one you may regret stripping down the road. But if you're itching to do it....No Regrets!!!

MATCHGRADE  That knife you have is IMHO the most beautiful knife that Jerry has produced in a long while  I would love to have one to go with my sage GW  There are plenty of slightly used FBM out there to buy and strip. Now having said all that, it certainly is your knife to do as you please :D Good luck with a hard decision! If you want to, send me the knife and I will place it in my Maxpedition 19 zippered case and lock it in the safe! Thereby removing all temptation. I would promise to give it back when you are over this temporary dilema :) Just the humble ramblings of a sage nut

*sob* please don't strip it! They are hard enough to find without them disappearing to paint stripper! :(

USE IT! BEAT IT! THEN STRIP IT! AND THEN BEAT IT SOME MORE!

(easy to say since I do not have one of those beauties :p )

SAGE is the new Black.......:) :)

well if I had my way ........................

THINK PINK....

I bought two of the sage FFbms. I wanted to actually cut something with one so I needed to reprofile it. So I stripped it.

They look real cool with that handle and bare steel. Go ahead and strip it.

It took me HOURS with a 100 grit paper to form the FFBM into a shape that was more knife like... LOL!

So I Sent a Black with Black Mags out a a knife smith for a full height convex grind... That one should be back soon and be spectacular!

The best Thing about the FFBMs is there is so much superfluous steel left un-ground from the blade that they are GREAT candidates for Custom regrinds.

In my mind that is more important than the color of paint.

I'll second that request for pics. Nice edge. Have you used an LE or CG? How does it compare? Thanks

I think the FBM LE is the best BM ever produced. The full height grind, thin effective edge geometry all the way out to the tip! Great execution of design.

The CG FBM was a distant second. All of mine had silly thick tips ( I have 4)
But still with some edge work the CGFBM is a great knife.

The FFBM's are absurd. But make great semi-raw material for world class custom cutters. I look forward to the one I sent off for a re-grind getting back so I can show you guys.

I have to say that in my opinion the (OH MY GOD MAKE THEM THICKER!) crowd is hurting the usefulness of the Busse product. I am concerned that in the LONG run as knives from other makers that have more knife like profiles and out perform Busse knives on Normal cutting tasks because of it will gain market share against Busse. I guess Jerry is not concerned because he sells all he can make and that speaks volumes.

I am just grateful to have a good handful of the Zero Tolerance line of Infi. Those were such great knives.

Yes I will try to do some more pics this evening when I get home.

One last thought.... This is not a slam on Busse. I bet I have spent 15,000 dollars on Busse in the last year and a half. I am just not on board with the current offerings and directions in the product line. This Does not make me right and Busse Wrong. Its a OPINION!!

I like thin, useful, traditional blades made from GREAT steel.

Thanks for the kind words on the pictures.

I would love to see the full convex FFBMs.

Also, I agree - it would be great if Busse released some more thinner versions of their knives.

That Tan camo stripper is one HOT knife!
I love the axe like grind on my FFBM's,
But I picture mine looking like a Vampire Slayer eventually:D

If you look at the evolution of Busse blades you will notice that they have gotten thicker and thicker. Another thing is that their edge geometry have also gotten thicker making them less efficient cutters.

The SH Series and the Ergo series hand full height flat grinds and a nice thin edge. At least on mine. Some of the knives are so thick and heavy that it is almost insane. ie. FFBM. I am sure that they have their places. Like in the car truck or strapped to a ATV or horse. But most definately not strapped on me! If you want to demolish things then the FFBM may be the ticket. But if you want to do camp work and actually want to cut things then their are much better options. Don't get me wrong. I like strong and tough knives too. But not at the expense of cutting performance. I say make them thinner!!!!

I love the axe like grind on my FFBM's,

I would never buy an axe with a edge profile like the tips of the FFBMS. Its to thick for even a splitting maul. Maybe a concrete bit in a jackhammer?

Seriously, I think a mistake was made on these. BUT...they were reasonably priced compared to other Busse knives and make GREAT starting points for all sorts of projects. If I had known I would have bought a life time supply of the cheapest Black / Black mags they had.

Jerry can bring out the Anorexic FBM (or ZT FBM?) right after he makes the Anorexic Game Warden. :D
