Stripped screw in G-10 scale

I have a nice Myerco, (their only knife I really ever liked), knife designed by Blackie Collins with G-10 scales, however, one of the small screws,(4-40), has been stripped out due to my monkey like grip.

G-10 I believe is a glass epoxy mixture?

What would be the best repair to do? Is there an epoxy I can use that could be retapped?

This knife has ATS-34 steel made in Seki Japan where some of the best steel for knives is made and the design is really nice so I really would like to reapair it right the first time.

Thanks!:)

a small helicoil or other threaded insert set into the G10 should fix that.

Aaah, I forgot all about those helicoils, and to think I worked 24 years in a machine shop as an inspector.

But I would like to use something where it would be hard to detect the repair, not that I want to sell it because I don't.

I just want it to look good even if screw is removed.:D

6-shooter .45,

is the screw still in the handle or is it out?

in: drill it out with a steel-drill. careful on the G10, the stuff is toxic like asbestos. replace screw with new one

out: fill the hole with silver epoxy glue and 'stamp' a 'Torx-screw-graphic' with your driver in the epoxy while it's still liquid

another option: see if any nice guys on this forum would like to fix it for you, or try contacting Meyerco for repair
