I just stripped the screw head on the lock bar tensioner screw on my ZT 0550 (2nd gen). Any suggestions on how to remove it ? I need help.

If it isn't totally stripped sometimes you can put a wide rubber band over the screwhead and unscrew it though that for a better grip.

A small flat head just a touch bigger than the hex, tap it in lightly with a hammer. If that does not work, you can get a stripped screw extractor at your local hardware type store for pretty cheap.

Use an end mill to cut the head off flat, lift off the surrounding parts, and then use a pliers to grab the stub and remove it.

EDM works good too.

I'd recommend sending it to have ZT extract and replace it.

But...lockbar...tensioner screw? Are you talking about the screw that holds the stabilizer?

Yea he's talking about the LBS screw.. I couldn't imagine stripping any of the other screws... they are beefy

Unlike my Value Kershaws i think i stripped or they came stripped on about 50% of my knives and i can't get them out with the tools i got.Just living with tip down on half of them and USA made ones as well.My advice buy a good torx set i bought cheap and now i'm screwed LOL

I just have the 5 bux set from Lowes...if the bits start wearingv(which is usually my fault not the products) I just exchange it for a new set

I also bought a cheap torx set at first, the T6 bit lasted throughout 5 knives before it rounded off (didn't strip the screw though!). I replaced that set with a slightly nicer one, but after a couple dozen screws the T6 is showing signs of fatigue. I'm looking for a very nice set that I won't have to replace any time soon.

I hear you on the t6 bits rounding i found one bit made out of tool steel on the zon for 3 bucks. Has held up well so far.

Well I also use power tools to first take the screws off since on most of my kershaws the first time is the hardest...I've taken apart over 50+ knives on the original set

My last stripped scale screw on was a kershaw lahar.
I used a drill bit with the intent if drilling it out. What happened was I drilled a little and tapped a torx bit into it. Applied pressure and unscrewed it. Don't know if this is the recommended way but it worked for me and am comfortable doing it again if need be. Good luck whatever you decide.
