Evening hogs! I started this project over the weekend and have been documenting it over on the Scrapyard site (http://forums.scrapyardknives.com/ubbthreads.php/topics/1025501/all/2_Questions.html) but figured some of you would be interested to see the results..
In addition to stripping and polishing, I reprofiled the last 2 inches to a much more acute angle, sharpened that area to shaving sharp, but left the tip and the first inch or so from the tip at the factory angle, to maintain its piercing strength..

Check out my Scrapyard post,, They're there, just hard to see thorough the coating,, cleaned all the nooks and crannies out with a Dremel with a felt disc, and some green stropping compound :D

That bead blast looks great! And to think these were only $40 off the site less than a year ago...

Perhaps we can get Jerry to push out a few more? Part of the Battle Grade editions? Pleeeeeease!

Thanks! Couldn't agree more on the value for these, I meant to pick up a few more of these to do similar things to but never got around to it before they departed. I guess I figured they'd be around forever the way everything else stayed on the storefront so long…. :foot: You did a great job on yours too, btw. Is that gutted 550 cord that you used for the wrap?

I wish I still had a side profile of the wrap I did on mine, it's actually not that wide the way it turned out because of the through holes in the tang allowing it to side flatter. May have helped too that AValenz did some rounding of the corner of the tang where your hand would contact it, it felt real nice in hand when it was done. I know the new owner is very happy with it… ;)

Thanks! Yeah I tried 2 different wraps before that one,,then I took the gutted 550 and kind of just started screwing around,, and thought "dang this looks pretty cool".. I don't think I could get it the same if I tried! Its actually a really tight wrap,, its kind of a bastardized whipping job so the ends are hidden..

These are actually from Scrapyard,, and you see a few every now and then on the sale area of the forum,, DericDesmond was letting this one go for a great price,,very cool guy.

ok perhaps Jerry can bug Dan to make more of these - max them out a bit bigger and I am very in!

Said it in the Yard, and I'll say it here... GORGOUS!!!
Great work rcb2000, she came out great!!!

Thanks! It was a fun project,, I liked it before, but I LOVE it now. Sometimes these don't come out how you want, but this one is an improvement for sure in my eyes. Couldn't have gotten her so pretty without a lot of good advice from this and the Scrapyard forum

One just came up on the sale forum! Someone buy it before my resistance fades!
