Took two trips out to the shelter another forum member and I put up last fall.
First was to strip it of the tarps and the second was to restore the firepit and pick up any man-made material that was covered by snow last week.
Although we didn't do any overnights in it, it did get used quite a bit as a place to get out of the cold and snow.

After the Monster Blizzard that we had last week, most of the snow is gone with unseasonal temps this week. Lots of tracks to be seen in the mud.

Some pictures removing the tarps from the shelter last weekend. This was 4 days after we had 20+ inches of snow, whiteout conditions and sustained winds of 50 mph gusting to 65+ MPH. The shelter was unfazed.

All tarps folded and duct taped in a big bundle to carry out and store in my garage for next year.

Next trip out was to scatter the unused firewood, clean out, fill and cover the firepit and pick up any remaining unnatural items. Just leaving the frame tied with rope made of natural materials.

Pit cleaned out, filled in and covered. All remaining firewood scattered into the surrounding area.

Lean-to which was just to the right taken down.

I brought a new blade with today. Wildertools Snublore that Rick Marchand made me. A functional work of art!

I used my water bottle kit today. Light and simple.

After the shelter was taken care of, I took a walk further back in the woods where there is a good sized ravine with a creek. I was looking for deer sheds and although there were plenty of fresh rubs, none were found.

Traveled along the top of the ravine to a spot where the creek has a s-curve to it. There is a little out-cropping of land where there are always deer tracks.

Some dry bark hanging and a nice dry stick for a one-stick fire.

Great pics. Its cool that you guys left it up all winter. All that snow and wind and there is barely any inside. Ill bet it was real nice to have a place to get away to...

It was nice when you just don't feel like getting soaked and frozen.

I forgot to close the top the last time out otherwise there would have been no snow inside. We split the top open to vent the smoke then pull it back together when done.

It'll be interesting to see how it looks next fall. We are discussing building a small Tipi in another location for next winter.
