Well, I've had my FFBM for almost 8 months and always wanted to piggy a Game Warden on it. But, after Knob Creek, Blade, and many Indy 1500's, I could never find a Game Warden.

But in May, the skies parted and Jerry gave us the SAR 3. So, in order to piggy the SAR 3, I needed a new sheath.

Here's my old rig, a Chuddy Bear Classic Sheath (one of Chuck's old ones):

And the new rig, which came in last Friday :D:

Flap but no strap, I like being able to pull the knives out without messing around with straps. Gotta be quick on the draw :D. There are also magnets in the sheaths to help them stay in place.

But Chuck did such an awesome job with the sheaths, and the SAR 3 being a satin finish, the Mistress seemed to be lacking. So, I made her one peice of naked INFI.

Taking the coating off on the Mistress was a lot easier than my NMSFNO, it seems like the gel stripper gets stronger with age. And, of course, I forgot to grab gloves, this stuff burns, especialy when you get some on your nose. This stuff even melted the scrapper I was using.

So, this is her in the buff, she has a certain thickness doesn't she?

Well, I would have left her like that, but I wanted to match the SAR 3 a bit, so after hours of sanding and polishing by hand (must be nice to have a belt sander), this is what the Mistress looks like now:

And a pic of the sheath's backside:

I think I came out alright, especially since I didn't have a belt sander, and the dimples kind of make it look like it has seen battle.

It's like a different knife, I handles differently, and definitely chops better, bites a lot deeper.

Now, all I have to do is put the antler on the firesteel (it's in a couple pics) and I'm thinking about sending it to Garth for some new scales. Black and Green G-10 maybe (if that wasn't a limited offering on the Gladius)? I'm thinking something "woodsy", something that'll blend. I'm not sure yet.

I don't think the black/green G10 is limited, that's what my SAR8 was.

Looks good. I'm not huge on coated blades unless it is a knife that I know will get neglected (like a machete). Satin/polished steel always cuts and slices so much easier. :)

And Chuddy Bear is a friggin' artist.

I think the Red/Black on the SAR3 with the color of the Chuddy Sheath is fantastic :thumbup:,,that might be a good choice :D

For new scales on a user, consider the hand-shaped ones in micarta. Even better if lightly grit blasted.

It's actually tigerhide, for some reason, no matter how many times I wash it off, it always goes to that darker color

Great job! Nice new sheath, too. It looks cool without the retention straps.

Really nice !! Like the dimples w/ the smooth coat adjacent. What did you use on the front talon hole and the skull crusher to clean them up?? Thanks

Wow! Your knife is really superb now!  :D

I have tried borth G-10 and Canvas Micarta, and I definetively prefer canvas micarta, especialy on a big user. G10 is heavier and, in my opinion, less comfortable/warm.

I cut strips of various grits of sandpaper and then folded the strip to make it somewhat stiff, then just spent time working on it.

You did a great job man!!! It looks AWESOME!!!!!
I love that big, fat, saber ground beast!!!
