Stripping a blade, handle damage?

I have a question for all the tinkerers out there. If you use something like that citrus stripping gel will it in any way damage micarta handle slabs? I know some people are able to drill out the holes and re-attach the handles but I don't have the know how or tools (probably) to do this.

I'm not suggesting slopping the gel on everything. Just the blade and up to the slabs on the ricaso and the exposed tang on the end.

Thanks for any help.

I've stripped a couple blades, stripping everything that I can without removing the scales (I think I used EZ strip or something like that).

Anyway, I've never had any scale damage (both blades I've done have been black canvas micarta), and I've had the stripper sit on the scales for 5-10 minutes before.

Just when you're done, wash the scales off and maybe lightly take sandpaper to it and you're just fine.

^^^^^ what he said

I have used a Jasco product that is caustic enough to start burning your skin within 2 minutes if you get it on your skin. No damage to any handles, including Res-C.

Nope. I've used several strippers (hehe) with no problems with the micarta or G10. Strip away!

I stripped an hhfsh with citri-strip and left it on for more than 24 hours. No damage to the G10 mags. But if i did it again, i would cover the scales with painters tape like others do.

I tried that once. Wasn't worth the trouble, stripper got on the scales anyway.
