Hey guys I have fallen in love with the nakkid look of INFI blades so I need to undress my FFBM (urban gray with blue and red g-10) I know INFI is nigh invincible, however, I am worried about the stripper's effect on the G-10. Is there one stripper over another that won't affect the g-10 or is there another secret I need to know?
Thanks
Tom

The short ammount of time that is required for a paint stripper to work will not damage G-10.

You should be aware that after stripping, you will find "Infi dimples" on the unground portions of the blade. The dimples are deep enough to be very difficult to sand out by hand, a skilled knife grinder with a good belt sander is required to get a nice satin look.

Thanks hogwash and 1whitefoot. I am really excited to try it and the pictures really help.
Thanks,
Tom

Pls excuse my ignorance, but does the same go for micarta? That is- will the Jasco change its appearance?

here is a pic of a stripped SHBM and then I hand sanded it with 600 grit, 1000 grit and 1500 grit for a total of 8 hours to get it to this. No machine sanding at all.

I stripped a Hell Razor with tan micarta slabs. The micarta did not darken at all. I thought the the micarta would be a bit porous but no noticeable effects.

Stripped a knife that had canvas micarta scales on it, no problem.
Even coated the scales with Jasco, thinking, maybe it will eat some of those exposed threads off...:D...no effect...:(... oh well...:o

After I let the stripper set on the metal for awhile, I use a piece of wood to scrape it off, then repeat several times.
Let the chemical do the work for you...
I use the Jasco cause it works good for me and washes up with soap and water.

You'll end up with a thin blackish/grey coat on the metal, if you want that off..then comes the scratch pads/sandpaper or what have you.

Whitefoot, if that's the "blackish/grey coat" in your third pic, it looks pretty sweet...is the color just the patina from the coating?
